The Developmental Garden was awarded an Autism Speaks Neighborhood Grant funded by Sprouts Farmers Market for further development of the Give Me 5 Board Game and App! We are thankful for this funding, and excited that it will help us build social understanding and confidence in ASD children worldwide.
I am a teacher at a private school for students with Aspergers. I use the game Give Me 5 in the classroom and the students absolutely love it!! One of my favorite parts of the game is its noncompetitive nature, which gives the students the opportunity to play together and work as a team. There are a variety of different real-word applicable social skills and social dynamics addressed throughout the course of the game. I didn’t know one game could encompass so many different social aspects at once! I feel like every turn the students take there is a “teachable moment” that evolves. Give Me 5 is an excellent resource for teachers and families alike!
I absolutely love the Give Me 5 game. I have been teaching social skills for several years and this is the best tool that I have come across. I have modified it to work with my small groups since I have time constraints. I only focus on a couple of skills at a time. After a student has tried to answer the question, we open up a discussion with the group and see how they might handle the situation differently. The cards help so much in controlling the topics and creating discussions and the students still feel like they are playing a game at the same time.
“Give Me 5 is a great way to teach pragmatics to ALL ages.
I love the simplicity of the game along with the multiple categories;
which provides endless amounts of practice.”

“Give Me 5: What a wonderful social game for all ages!
It targets most social language concepts all in one interactive board game. Role playing, non-verbal language, self presentation,
and much more!
Finally….a well-rounded social language tool for teachers and therapists.”
